Environmental planning support to LPA

 

Accent Consulting has been commissioned to provide ongoing environmental planning and EIA related support to Guildford Borough Council on major development applications. Working through Thomson Environmental Consultants, Accent's director, Peter George, will continue the work he was doing over the previous two years whilst at Thomson, undertaking ES reviews, drafting EIA scoping opinions and providing environmental advice and support to planning officers.

IEMA Impact Assessment Network Volunteers recognised by IAIA Award

 

The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment's (IEMA) Impact Assessment Network volunteers have received the 2024 International Association of Impact Assessment's (IAIA) Award for Regional Contribution at their conference in Dublin.  Led by a steering group of 15 members, the network of volunteer members have, over the last 30 years, contributed to the advancement of impact assessment through advocacy, production of technical guidance and professional training.  

 

Accent Consulting's director, Peter George, was a member of the IA Steering Group for 6 years and served as Chair from 2018-2020.

 

Peter said, "This is worthy recognition of all the amazing people that have volunteered their time and expertise to advancing impact assessment and the science that underpins it. Congratulations to all the volunteers and IEMA."

Consultation response on Environmental Outcome Reports

 

Accent Consulting have been part of a working group set up by the Institution of Environmental Sciences to draft a response to the Government's consultation on Environmental Outcome Reports (EOR), the proposed replacement for Environmental Statements. Whilst the group acknowledged some benefits from the proposed changes to EIA, such as sharing of environmental datasets nationally, there are concerns EORs may be too simplistic and not cover the full range of environmental and socio-economic topics.
